Blue Raiders Fall in Close Battle with No. 15 Georgetown

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team fell just short in a hard-fought 81-77 contest against No. 15 Georgetown (Ky.) on Wednesday night inside Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders (18-9, 6-5 Mid-South Conference) shot 50 percent from the field and 76.2 percent from the free-throw line while limiting the Tigers (21-6, 7-4 MSC) to 41.8 percent shooting. Lindsey Wilson won the rebounding battle 32-30 and outscored Georgetown 32-20 in the paint, but the visitors' three-point shooting proved to be the difference.

Victory Naboya paced the Blue Raiders with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting, including two three-pointers. Kenyata Carbon followed with 12 points and five assists, while Mihail Gavazov posted 11 points and nine rebounds. Julian Cunningham and DJ Gordon each added 10 points, and Olson Nicholson chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.

The first half featured nine ties and ten lead changes, with Georgetown taking a slim 37-36 advantage into the break. Naboya's inside presence and timely shooting from Cunningham and Gavazov kept the Blue Raiders within reach throughout.

In the second half, Georgetown's perimeter attack took over. Bubba Leavell led all scorers with 25 points, hitting seven three-pointers, while Darien Lewis added 17 points and seven rebounds. Despite several late rallies, Lindsey Wilson couldn't overcome the Tigers' hot shooting as Georgetown closed the game with six straight free throws.

The Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday when they travel to Williamsburg to face No. 17 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) at 2 p.m. CT.
