Baseball Drops MSC Opener to Campbellsville on Friday

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped its Mid-South Conference opener Friday against (RV) Campbellsville (Ky) at Egnew Park by a score of 7-2. 

Blue Raider starting pitcher Jack Ballou pitched five innings, allowing six earned runs on nine hits, while striking out three batters. Ballou received his first loss of the season, moving his record to 2-1 on the season. Campbellsville's starting pitcher, Brady Forno, pitched excellently. Forno went six scoreless innings, allowing only one hit, striking out seven, and walking three. Forno earned his third win of the season, moving his record to 3-2 on the year. The Blue Raiders were led by Drake Young, who had two hits and an RBI in the game. Campbellsville was led by Antony Gilbert and Anthony Esposito. Gilbert went 3-5 with a double and a home run, along with three RBIs. Esposito went 2-4 with 2 RBIs. 

The Tigers took the lead in the first inning thanks to a two-run home run by Gilbert. Campbellsville added three runs in the top of the second inning courtesy of RBI singles from Gilbert and Joaquin Hernandez, along with a sacrifice fly from Esposito. The Tigers scored single runs during the sixth and seventh innings, making the score 7-0. The Blue Raiders were able to score runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to bring the score to 7-2. 

Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. CT. Game three will start approximately 30-45 minutes following the conclusion of game two.
