Baseball Defeats (RV) Oakland City 7-6 on Tuesday

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson team defeated (RV) Oakland City (Ind.) on Tuesday afternoon at Egnew Park 7-6. 

The Blue Raiders move to 12-16 on the season, while the Mighty Oaks drop to 23-8. 

Lindsey Wilson starting pitcher Levi Wade went 2.0 innings, allowing four runs on five hits, walking zero, and striking out two. Brenden Bratcher took over for Wade at the top of the third inning. Bratcher finished the game for Lindsey Wilson, throwing 7.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, walking one, and striking out 10 batters. Bratcher earned his third victory, pushing his record to 3-1. Oakland City's starting pitcher, Nate Trimble, lasted 3.1 innings, allowing four runs on four hits, walking two, and striking out four. Nate Howard, who pitched 2.0 innings, received his first loss of the season, moving his record to 2-1. At the plate, Lindsey Wilson was led by Bryce Sidler and Drake Young. Sidler went 2-4 with 2 RBIs, while Young went 2-4 with an RBI. Simon Gaines and Nazhir Bergen led the way for the Mighty Oaks. Gaines went 2-4 with an RBI, while Bergen went 1-4 with a two-run home run. 


In the top of the first inning, Bergen gave Oakland City a 2-0 lead on a two-run home run that scored Jake Winzenread. The Mighty Oaks scored two more runs in the top of the second inning to make the lead 4-0. Mason Simon had an RBI single, and Dicky Gonzalez drove home Andrew Gillihan on a sacrifice fly. Another run in the top of the third inning made the score 5-0 Mighty Oaks. 

The Blue Raiders responded in the bottom of the third inning with a run of their own courtesy of an Orion Hahm-Taklander sacrifice fly that drove in Zane Gist, who was pinch running for Amir Pineiro. Sidler doubled in the bottom half of the fourth inning, driving in both Isaac Samano and Caden Davis to make the score 5-3. Young added an RBI infield single, driving in Sidler to make it 5-4, and Young tied the game at 5-5 when he scored on a wild pitch. 

Lindsey Wilson took the lead 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth via a Davis RBI single that scored Andres Duran. Oakland City fought back to tie the game at 6-6 in the top of the sixth on a Gaines RBI single. Lindsey Wilson took the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh inning on a Duran RBI double that made the score 7-6. Bratcher held the Mighty Oaks scoreless for the final three innings for a Blue Raider victory.
