NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Lindsey Wilson Blue Raider baseball team was defeated by (RV) Indiana Southeast, Tuesday evening, 11-1 at the Koetter Sports Baseball Complex.
The Blue Raiders move to 13-19 on the season, while the Grenadiers move to 23-10.
Lindsey Wilson, starting pitcher, Tuff Elson, pitched 2.0 innings, allowing five runs on six hits, while walking two. Elson, with the loss, moves to 0-1 on the season. Kevin Moore, IU Southeast's starting pitcher, went five scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and striking out nine. Moore earned his fourth win of the season, moving his record to 4-0. LWU was held to four total hits as a team, with Drake Young responsible for the lone RBI of the game. Joel Johnson and Coulter Hamilton led the way for the Grenadiers. Johnson went 3-5 with two runs scored, a double, and an RBI. Hamilton went 3-3 with two runs scored, a double, a triple, and an RBI.
IU Southeast jumped in front early in the bottom of the second inning, courtesy of an Alex Schuler home run. The Grenadiers scored eight runs in the bottom half of the third inning. Hamilton drove in Johnson with an RBI triple, while Trevor Goodwin drove Hamilton in with an RBI single. Six runs later, the score was 9-0 after three innings of play.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, IU Southeast scored its tenth run on a Konnor Scheidt RBI single. LWU scored its lone run in the top of the seventh inning when Young hit a sacrifice fly that scored Caden Davis. The Grenadiers secured the victory in the bottom of the seventh when Bryson Arnette hit a sacrifice fly that gave IU Southeast the victory by run-rule.
Lindsey Wilson is scheduled to play (RV) Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) in a three-game series starting Friday at 3:00 p.m. CT at Egnew Park with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m. CT.
