COLUMBIA, Ky. - Michael Rempel and Ola Wyrzykowska have been named the 2025-26 Lindsey Wilson University Scholar-Athletes of the Year. The pair were recognized at the university's annual Honors Convocation ceremony.
 
Rempel is a member of the Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team, while Wyrzykowska is a member of the Blue Raider volleyball team.
 
The pair earns the award based on their academic, athletic, and civic achievements throughout their Lindsey Wilson careers.
 
"I want to congratulate Michael and Ola on receiving the Male and Female Scholar-Athlete awards, LWU athletics director Willis Pooler said. " It is clear when you watch them compete that they are great leaders and elite collegiate athletes. However, when you spend time with them it becomes more obvious why they are elite people."
 
"They emphasize excellence in all they do, which is reflected in their academic performance and athletic accomplishments," Pooler added.  "They are both incredibly deserving of this recognition.  I couldn't be prouder of them and how they represented Lindsey Wilson University.
 
Rempel is a two-time Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Year, earning the honor in 2024 and in 2025. He earned United Soccer Coaches Association All-American honors in 2024 and 2025. Rempel is a two-time NAIA All-American, earning the recognition in both 2024 and 2025.  This past season he scored three goals and seven assists while anchoring a Blue Raider defense that recorded five shutouts.
 
Academically, Rempel earned 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic-All-America First Team honors. He is a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, a two-time NAIA Scholar Athlete, and has earned Academic All-Conference honors three times.
 
Wyrzykowska is a two-time First Team All-Conference honoree, earning the recognition in 2024 and 2025. She is a two-time American Volleyball Coaches' Association All-Region team honoree and was named an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American this past season. This past season, Wyrzykowska became the second Blue Raider in program history to post 500 kills, 400 digs, 50 aces, and 50 blocks in a single season.
 
She is a three-time CSC Academic All-District honoree and became the second Blue Raider in program history to earn the honor three times. Wyrzykowska is a three-time NAIA Scholar Athlete and a three-time Academic All-Conference honoree.
 
Rempel is the fourth men's soccer student-athlete to be named Lindsey Wilson University Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Wyrzykowska is the sixth volleyball student-athlete to earn the honor.
