Baseball Hosts (RV) Freed-Hademan in MSC Series

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders baseball team looks to get back above .500 in Mid-South Conference play in this weekend's series against (RV) Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) at Egnew Park. 

Games one and two will be played in Friday's doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. CT, followed by a single game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. CT. 

Lindsey Wilson, 13-19, is coming off a loss on Tuesday to (RV) Indiana Southeast, while the Lions are 22-10 on the year after sweeping Tuesday's doubleheader against Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.). 

Offensively, Lindsey Wilson is led by Andres Duran, Orion Hahm-Taklander, and Caden Davis. Duran leads the Blue Raiders in RBIs (22), OPS (1.026), doubles (10), and is tied for first on the team in hits with 36. Hahm-Taklander, in his first season at Lindsey Wilson, has been a reliable bat at the top of the lineup for Head Coach Ethan Utley. Hahm-Taklander has a team-leading .355 batting average and has the highest on-base percentage at .474%. Davis has started all but one game in centerfield for the Blue Raiders this season. Davis leads the team in ABs (109) and runs scored (27) while batting .330 with seven stolen bases on the season. In terms of pitching, Kyle Lambert has the lowest ERA on the team with a 4.28, while Jack Ballou leads the Blue Raiders in strikeouts with 44. 

In terms of the Lions, at the plate, FHU is led by Drake Blackwood, Trace Anderson, Brennen Gibson, and Brooks Jones. Blackwood leads the team in batting average (.411), OPS (1.332), home runs (9), and slugging percentage (.832). Anderson is batting .405, with a 1.117 OPS, 47 hits, and 38 runs scored. Gibson, only a freshman, is hitting .387 with eight home runs and an OPS of 1.189. Jones leads the Lions in RBIs with 42 and has 11 stolen bases on the year. A pair of upperclassmen lead the Lions' pitching staff in senior Colton Bryant and junior Jackson Fitzwilson. Bryant has a 3.22 earned run average and a 5-1 record in 12 appearances over 36.1 innings pitched. Fitzwilson has a 3.86 ERA with a 5-1 record in his eight starts, working over 44.1 innings pitched, including a complete game shutout against Culver-Stockton (Mo.) on February 14th.

Games one and two are scheduled as part of a doubleheader on Friday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. CT at Egnew Park, while game three is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. CT. at Egnew Park.
