Women’s Track & Field Second After First Day of MSC Championships

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's track and field team sits in second following the first day of the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday at Parnell Family Stadium.
 
The Blue Raiders tallied 61 points on the first day and sit behind Cumberlands (Ky.) who is in first with 98 points. Georgetown (Ky.) is third with 50 points.
 
Rosemond Owusu captured the conference championship in the long jump with a distance of 5.65 meters. Chenessa Davis earned All-Conference honors with a jump of 5.40 meters to finish in third. Selena Johnson finished fourth with a distance of 5.33 meters, while Jada McIntyre was fifth with a jump of 5.29 meters. Destiny Barnes and Elaina Holliday also earned team points for the Blue Raiders, finishing in sixth and seventh, respectively.
 
Reagan Cheatham took home the conference championship in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.33 meters. Nevaeh Acklin finished fourth with a throw of 38.78 meters. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Arianna Payne earned All-Conference honors with a runner-up finish with a time of 13:52.80.
 
The 4x800-meter relay team of Sancia Smith, Payne, Zoe Wilson, and Autumn Price earned four points, finishing in fifth with a time of 11:16.63.  Price earned four points in the 5,000-meter racewalk with a fifth-place finish.
 
Hannah Reid finished with the top time in the 100-meter dash prelims, finishing in 11.89. Amasiatu finished fourth to qualify for Monday's final with a time of 12.13 to place fourth. Holliday and Jermani Morris also qualified for the finals, finishing in fifth and seventh, respectively.
 
In the 200-meter dash prelims, Reid posted the fastest time finishing in 25.04. Amasiatu finished third with a time of 25.67, while Morris placed fifth with a time of 25.94.
 
The final day of the MSC Outdoor Track & Field Championships get underway on Monday at 11 a.m. CT at Parnell Family Stadium.
