MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team dropped a Mid-South Conference road matchup at Bethel (Tenn.) 2-1 on Thursday at Walter Butler Stadium.
Bethel (2-3-1, 1-1-0 MSC) outshot the Blue Raiders (4-3-0, 1-1-0 MSC) 13-5 and held an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Darren Bantom scored the lone Lindsey Wilson goal as
Juliano Manfro recorded an assist. Manfro led the Blue Raiders with two shots, while
Zahir Garcia recorded six saves.
The Wildcats struck first in the seventh minute. On the first shot of the game, Luiz Antonio Costa Lima put the ball past the Blue Raider keeper to give Bethel the early 1-0 advantage. Manfro recorded the first Lindsey Wilson shot on goal in the eighth minute that was saved by the Wildcats. Bantom tied the game in the 33rd minute with his first goal of the season on an assist from Manfro. After the first 45 minutes, Bethel held a 9-4 edge in shots and had a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal. Manfro led the way with two shots, while
Tobias Lopez and Bantom each had one.
Lindsey Wilson was only able to record one shot in the final 45 minutes.
Denilson Macon recorded the only Blue Raider shot of the second half in the 69th minute. Lima gave the Wildcats a 2-1 lead in the 72nd minute with his second goal of the night.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Pulaski, Tennessee for a 3 p.m. CT matchup against Tennessee Southern at Grissom Pitch.
