DECATUR, Ala. -- The No. 13 Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team battled No. 10 William Carey to a 1-1 draw Sunday night inside the Jack Allen Recreation Complex.
The Crusaders (2-1-2) opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Boo Mills sent in a corner kick and teammate Sara Aguirre used her body to redirect the ball into the back of the net.
Lindsey Wilson recorded five shots in the opening half but was unable to capitalize on its chances as William Carey took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Blue Raiders (1-1-1) found the equalizer in the 59th minute.
Norka Fergusson sent a rocket off the post before
Eva Cova gathered the rebound and fed the ball back to Fergusson, who found the back of the net to level the match at 1-1.
A defensive battle ensued over the final 31 minutes, with neither team able to find a game-winning goal. Lindsey Wilson applied consistent pressure in the second half, outshooting the Crusaders 13-7.
Demi Serman recorded five saves in goal for Lindsey Wilson.
The Blue Raiders return home for their Mid-South Conference opener at 5 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Sept. 8, against Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.).
