COLUMBIA, Ky. - Thanks to an offensive explosion,
Lindsey Wilson women's soccer earned its first Mid-South Conference victory of the season, defeating Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) 7-0 on Tuesday night inside Walter S, Reuling Stadium.
Ona Monserrat Baca started the scoring for the Blue Raiders (2-1-1, 1-0-0 MSC) in the 10th minute, giving her squad the early 1-0 advantage.
Paola Giusti found the back of the net in the 35th minute on a feed from
Mercy Kinuthia to put Lindsey Wilson up 2-0 headed into halftime.
The second period started with fireworks from
Ashiat Naluggwa, who scored consecutive goals in the 49th and 50th minutes to give the Blue Raiders a 4-0 edge. Monserrat Baca earned assists on both scores.
In the 61st minute, Monserrat Baca sent another one past the Lions' keeper to put Lindsey Wilson up 5-0 with her second goal of the match.
Julia Marcolongo with an assist from
Sarah Abonyo, scored in the 75th minute and
Jillian Truax added another goal in the 76th minute. Both players recorded their first goals of the season to close out a 7-0 win for the Blue Raiders.
