Women's Golf Finishes in 10th Place Tie at NAIA Championships

GREENEVILLE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team finished the 2011 NAIA National Championships in a tie for 10th place at the conclusion of today's final round at Link Hills Country Club.

The Blue Raiders finished the tournament with a four-day, team-total of 1,288 (326-319-320-323) over the par-73, 6,170-yard Link Hills layout. The finish is the fifth straight top-10 for the program dating back to the 2007 national tournament.

Lindsey Wilson senior Chelsey Key fired a final round 77 today to finish the tournament tied for 20th in the 129-woman field. Key finished with a total of 316 (86-80-73-77) over the four days to narrowly miss all-tournament honors -- reserved for the top-15 and ties -- by three shots.

Key's 20th place finish was her best finish in her three national tournaments. She ended tied for 50th last season with a 326 and tied for 51st two seasons ago with a 333.

Sophomore Kelsey Joslyn finished tied for 29th after today's round of 81. Joslyn finished with a 319 (82-72-84-81) to join Key with her best-ever finish at the national tournament.

In her first national championship last season, Joslyn finished as the Blue Raiders second best golfer with a tie for 42nd with a 322.

Playing in her first NAIA Championship, Lindsey Wilson freshman Kaitlin Allan tied for 40th with a 323 (78-83-82-80).

Junior Paola Gonzalez and sophomore Jennifer MacKinnon each shot 85s today to complete the Blue Raiders' final round 323. Gonzalez ended tied for 75th with a 331 (80-82-84-85) while MacKinnon finished tied for 94th with a 347 (90-89-83-85).

California Baptist University won its first women's golf national title in a playoff win over Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University. The two teams finished tied with team totals of 1,252 after 72 holes.

University of British Columbia's Kylie Barros won the individual national title with a four-day total of 297 (73-74-75-75).

The Blue Raiders end its season with five tournament titles, including the Mid-South Conference Tournament championship.
