Men's Basketball Defeats No. 14 Philander Smith 72-59

COLUMBIA, Ky.D'on Hall shot 9-of-9 from the free throw line and scored 20 points as Lindsey Wilson men's basketball defeated No. 14-ranked Philander Smith (Ark.) College 72-59 Sunday at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders (6-5, 0-2 MSC) jumped out to a 6-1 early lead, but allowed Philander Smith (9-3) to tie the game at 12-12. Lindey Wilson took control of the game with runs of 11-2 and 6-0 to push its lead to nine, but would commit several turnovers to let the Panthers back in the game. Jaron Egbe converted a shot from outside the arc with five seconds left to give the Panthers a 33-32 lead at the break.

Roy Marshall and Tevlin Smith each scored 15 to lead the Panthers while Juvon Demerson added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Hall opened the second half with a three-point shot, igniting a 7-0 Lindsey Wilson run. The Blue Raiders controlled the second half, pushing their lead up to 10, but several turnovers allowed Philander Smith to trim the lead to 61-59 with 2:18 remaining on the clock.

Late in the game, the Panthers' Marshall picked up his fourth foul then added a technical immediately after to foul out of the game. Hall would make all four ensuing free-throws and Lindsey Wilson would close out the game with an 11-0 run.

Keshaun Mayfield scored 16 points, followed by Tony Horne and Daronte' Clark with 11 points each. Mayfield added seven boards in the victory.

Lindsey Wilson out-rebounded Philander Smith 37-29, scoring 11 of its points from second-chance opportunities. The Blue Raiders also scored 12 points off the bench, compared to the Panthers' six, and shot 25-of-38 from the charity stripe.

The Blue Raiders are now 4-0 all-time against the Panthers.

Lindsey Wilson hosts another ranked opponent as No. 24 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) visits on Dec. 18 for a 7 p.m. CT game.
