GRAYSON, Ky. -- No. 20-ranked Lindsey Wilson football scored 24 unanswered points to sprint away from host and No. 25 Kentucky Christian today en route to a 31-7 win at KCU Stadium.

Following a defensive struggled that produced a scoreless first half, it was the special teams that provided the spark that ignited the Blue Raiders to the pivotal divisional win. Lindsey Wilson improves to 5-2 overall and a division-best 3-0 in the Mid-South Conference East.

Lindsey Wilson's Caleb Keeton produced the first points of the day with a 33-yard field goal with 4:21 remaining in the third quarter. Keeton improves to 3-for-3 this season with the make.

The Blue Raider special teams were at it again on the next Kentucky Christian possession.

After the Lindsey Wilson defense stopped the Knight offense forcing a punt, Cory Davenport burst though a gap in the offense line to block the punt. Josh Haney scooped up the loose ball and ran untouched 20 yards for the first touchdown of the day to extend the Blue Raiders lead to 10-0.

The defense -- which finished with seven takeaways last week -- was in the take-away spirit again.

Austin Howell nabbed his first interception of the season on the ensuing KCU drive and returned it to the Knights' 14-yard line.

Lindsey Wilson quarterback Branden Cresap capped a four-play, 14-yard scoring drive by finding Tyler Williams for a three-yard touchdown on a naked bootleg for the 17-0 lead.

Following Howell's lead, Da'shad Goldston grabbed his first interception of the season after teammate Tony Brackins tipped the ball in the air on the next KCU possession. The pick was the fourth Blue Raider interception of the day. In all, Lindsey Wilson forced six Knight turnovers for the game.

Cresap on the Blue Raider offense once again took advantage of the KCU miscue. The senior quarterback found Allen Cooks in the left corner of the endzone to cap a 7-play, 36-yard scoring drive for the 24-0 lead.

The Knights responded with their longest drive of the day on their next possession to dash the hopes of a Lindsey Wilson shutout. KCU marched 53 yards on 14 plays -- collecting a third of its 12 first downs on the drive -- for its only score of the day. Robert Powell connected with Tony Prater on a 13-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 24-7.

Lindsey Wilson needed just two plays -- after a failed on-side kick -- to push the lead to 31-7. Cresap threw his third touchdown strike of the day -- his 20th this season -- to Carmetrick Ross down the left sideline for 36 yards.

In the first half, the Blue Raider defense was simply stellar despite having their backs against the wall for the majority of the half. KCU started in Lindsey Wilson territory in six of its eight drives only to be turned away each time.

The win keeps the Blue Raiders atop the MSC East Division heading into next week's bye-week. The 3-0 division start is the best in the program's history.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 25, as it hosts Belhaven (Miss.) at Blue Raider Stadium.
