With just over 15 minutes remaining, the Blue Raiders were finally able to find the equalizer.

A Northwestern Ohio foul gave the Blue Raiders a free kick from 25 yards out. Aleksi Pahkasalo placed the ball and unleashed a thundering drive that sailed over the defensive wall and into the upper-right corner of the net past a diving Liam Davies in goal for the 1-1 tie. In the 85th minute, the Racers were able to beat the Blue Raider defense and connect on the game-winning goal. Carlos Monterrey and Carlos Suarez played a give-and-go deep inside the box that allowed Monterrey to knock in the go-ahead goal.

The Blue Raiders would apply pressure to end the game but managed just one shot on goal. The final seconds saw a long ball hit towards the Racer goal with a Blue Raider in pursuit, but the goalkeeper came out and made the grab to end the threat and preserve the 2-1 victory.

The Blue Raiders return to action on Tuesday when they host Shawnee State (Ohio) at 7 p.m. CT at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
