COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer program suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday night in a 2-1 loss to Northwestern Ohio at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

The Blue Raiders (5-1-0) were outshot on the night by the Racers (4-2-1) by a 14-10 margin.

Northwestern Ohio also finished with 10 shots on goal compared to Lindsey Wilson's four.

The Blue Raiders had their best scoring chance of the first half in the 30th minute. Yazeed Davids kicked a high ball towards the goal which Billal Qsiyer fed to Delano Coleho near the six-yard box, but Coleho's header sailed just over the crossbar.

Minutes later, the Racers would break the scoreless tie in the 34th minute. Sergio Royo dribbled towards the 18-yard box before unleashing a slicing ball that faded to the left into the top-left corner of net past a diving Dalyan Hawes.

Northwestern Ohio was able to hold their 1-0 lead heading into the break.

The Racers would continue their quick pace in the second half, applying pressure to the Blue Raider defense.

With just over 15 minutes remaining, the Blue Raiders were finally able to find the equalizer.

A Northwestern Ohio foul gave the Blue Raiders a free kick from 25 yards out. Aleksi Pahkasalo placed the ball and unleashed a thundering drive that sailed over the defensive wall and into the upper-right corner of the net past a diving Liam Davies in goal for the 1-1 tie. It is the fourth goal of the season for Pahkasalo who has recorded a point in every game this season for the Blue Raiders.

Tom Moody had a scoring chance in the 78th minute as he found himself with space at the top of the box and unleashed a shot that sailed just wide of the goal.

In the 85th minute, the Racers were able to beat the Blue Raider defense and connect on the game-winning goal. Carlos Monterrey and Carlos Suarez played a give-and-go deep inside the box that allowed Monterrey to knock in the go-ahead goal.

The Blue Raiders would apply pressure to end the game but managed just one shot on goal. The final seconds saw a long ball hit towards the Racer goal with a Blue Raider in pursuit, but the goalkeeper came out and made the grab to end the threat and preserve the 2-1 victory.

The Blue Raiders return to action on Tuesday when they host Shawnee State (Ohio) at 7 p.m. CT at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
