Poor three-point shooting dooms Men's Basketball against Life on Monday

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team dropped their second-straight game on Monday afternoon as they lost to Life (Ga.), 77-63.

Bryan Wallace led the Blue Raiders (13-8, 4-5 Mid-South Conference) with 22 points, while Hannes Erhardt was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 13 points and eight boards. Dmitry Utolin and Charles Sutton rounded out the Lindsey Wilson scorers in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Running Eagles (12-7, 5-5 MSC) got off to a strong start as they went on a 10-2 run over the first 2:30 of the game, and they started the game going 6-for-6 from the field. After trailing by eight points early in the first half, the Blue Raiders chipped away at their deficit to pull within one-point, 14-13, after Utolin knocked down a pair of free throws with 15:08 to play in the first half.

Both teams continued to battle back-and-forth in the first half as Life tried to pull away a few different times in the first half, but Lindsey Wilson keep the game within reach. With the Running Eagles leading 32-25 at the 4:31 mark of the first half, the Blue Raiders went on an 8-2 run to make it a 34-33 game with 2:23 remaining in the half.

Life scored the next nine points to grab their first double-digit lead of the game with 1:03 left on the clock as the Running Eagles had a 43-33 advantage. Lindsey Wilson scored the final two points of the first half as Life took a 43-35 lead into the half.

In the first half, the Running Eagles shot 66.7 percent from the floor, while the Blue Raiders shot 56.5 percent.

Lindsey Wilson started the second half on an 8-2 run to pull within two points of Life with 16:11 left in the second half. Two points was the closest the Blue Raiders came in the second half. With Lindsey Wilson keeping it close through the early portion of the second, they trailed 49-47 at the 12:42 mark, but the Running Eagles countered with a 6-0 run to regain an eight-point lead with 10:45 left in regulation.

Life slowly stretched their lead out to 68-57 with 4:52 left in the game. Lindsey Wilson scored the next four points to bring the game back within single digits. However, the Running Eagles made seven of their final eight free throw attempts to halt Blue Raider comeback, and Life came away with a 77-63 victory.

The Blue Raiders shot just 27 percent from the floor in the second half, as they finished the game shooting 38.3 percent. Lindsey Wilson struggled from behind the arc as they made just 1-of-17 attempts from three-point land, which is a season low for the Blue Raiders. Life shot 55.8 percent for the game and they were 36.8 percent from the beyond the arc.

Life also recorded 19 assists in the game on Monday, which is the second-best from any Lindsey Wilson opponent this season.

The Blue Raiders host Ohio Christian on Thursday night at 7 p.m. CT to close out back-to-back home games.
