MARIETTA, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team fell on the road to Life (Ga.) by an 86-66 margin on Saturday evening at the Eagles' Nest.

The Blue Raiders slip to 16-8 overall and 3-5 in Mid-South Conference play with the loss, while the Running Eagles move to 11-10 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

Lindsey Wilson outscored Life in the second half by one point, but the Blue Raiders were unable to erase a 21-point halftime deficit. The Running Eagles, who entered the game as the sixth-best three-point shooting team in the MSC (32.5 percent), shined from beyond the arc hitting 10-of-17 attempts (58.8 percent), while turning 17 Blue Raider turnovers into 24 points.

Dmitry Utolin led Lindsey Wilson with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Bryan Wallace was the lone other Blue Raider in double figures with 17.

Both teams enjoyed short runs to start the game, Life scored four straight, followed by six in a row by LWC, and finally a 7-0 run by Life to put the Running Eagles ahead 11-6. Life slowly began extending the lead, taking advantage of seven Blue Raider turnovers in the first six minutes.

After starting 0-for-2 from beyond the arc, Life got hot from deep and hit four of their next five shots to push the lead into double digits at 29-19 with 7:15 to play in the first half.

Lindsey Wilson got the lead down to eight after a Charles Sutton free throw with 5:14 to go, but Life responded in a big way. The Running Eagles proceeded to answer with an 18-5 run to close out the half, including a string of 13-straight points to take a 50-29 lead into the break.

Lindsey Wilson went 1-for-6 from the floor in those final five minutes, the lone field goal a DJ Lambert three pointer, while turning the ball over twice and committing six fouls. A pair of Utolin free throws accounted for the final two LWC points.

The Blue Raiders shot 43.5 percent as a team in the half with four made three pointers, but LWC committed 12 costly turnovers while Life had just three.

The Running Eagles hit 48.2 percent from the floor and hit 6-of-10 shots from deep in the half. Life also made 18-of-21 attempts from the charity stripe.

Lindsey Wilson started the second half by beginning to slowly chip away at the lead, eventually getting it down to 14 points at 55-41 following a Wallace layup at the 13:50 mark after a 12-5 run.

But that's as close as Lindsey Wilson could pull it as Life kept the Blue Raiders at a comfortable distance the remainder of the game as the two teams traded baskets. LWC could not trim the lead back down to 14 points or closer again, while Life was unable to push the lead past 20 points until 1:39 remaining when the Running Eagles made it a 21-point advantage.

Both squads shot an identical 48.2 percent for the game, but Life hit 10 three pointers compared to five by the Blue Raiders. The Running Eagles had a strong showing at the free throw line hitting 24-of-28 attempts.

Dalarian Williams led all scorers with 32 points for Life. Zach Landis followed with 17 points.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 2 when the Blue Raiders host Campbellsville (Ky.).
