Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 win over Pikeville on Saturday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
With the victory, Lindsey Wilson head coach Ray Wells collected his 500th career victory at LWC. He now owns a career record of 500-99-31 as LWC head coach.
The Blue Raiders (8-2-0, 4-0-0 Mid-South Conference) outshot the Bears (2-9-1, 0-4-0 MSC) 23-5 and 11-0 in shots on goal, scoring goals via four different players in the match.
Tyler Collishaw continued his goal-scoring binge with his second three-goal performance of the season. He has now scored in all four games he has played in for LWC. The junior forward got the Blue Raiders on the board in the 27th minute when he chested down a cross in the box and was then able to fight off a defender and fire a left-footed shot past the keeper.
Andres Riquelme scored his second goal of the season during the 39th minute. Yuta Yamamoto hit a ball forward from just inside the halfway line that Pikeville goalkeeper failed to punch out. Mutaya Mwape was able to head the ball forward to Riquelme, who was then able to head the ball into the wide-open net.
The second half featured four goals for Lindsey Wilson. Two came off the foot of Collishaw as Karim Jouini was able to score his second goal of the season and Mwape scored his team leading 10th of the season.
Mwape scored in the 57th minute when Collishaw fed him a ball through the middle. Mwape was then able to chip the ball over a rushing goalkeeper for the score, bringing the LWC lead to 3-0. Collishaw scored again in the 72nd minute after a ball deflected to Collishaws feet off a Pikeville defender. He then sped past a pair of Pikeville defenders and fired a shot into the far side of the net for the score.
Jouini scored his goal during the 81st minute on a counter attack after a Pikeville free kick. Mwape ran to the end line and was able to shake a defender before finding Jouini at the penalty spot, who settled the ball before smashing it into the back of the net.
Collishaw completed his hat trick during the 84th minute when Jaxson Paulin fed a through ball up to Jouini, who was able to one touch the ball forward as he was taken out by the Pikeville goalkeeper to a waiting Collishaw who scored into a wide open net.
Lindsey Wilson finished with three corner kicks on the night but were caught offside 11 times.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on the road against Life (Ga.) at 1 p.m. CT from Marietta, Georgia on October 17.
