BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Mid-South Conference Championship Tournament on Wednesday at Bowling Green Country Club.
The Blue Raiders shot a three-day total 978 (333-321-324) at the 54-hole tournament. Lindsey Wilson finished just one stroke behind third-place Cumberland (Tenn.).
Immediately following the conclusion of the round, the all-conference awards were announced. The all-conference teams were selected based on the three conference tournaments, the Fall, Spring, and MSC Championships. The lowest five rounds of the seven were used to determine the teams. Courtney Vincent, Shayna Cockrill and Tara Rodenhurst were each named to the Second Team All-Conference while Rodenhurst was named the co-Freshman of the Year, along with Cumberland's (Tenn.) Raquel Romero. Campbellsville's (Ky.) Cassidy Scantland was named the Golfer of the Year.
Vincent turned in the best Blue Raider round on day three, carding a 7-over par 79 to finish in ninth place, a four-spot improvement from Tuesday. She improved her score each day, finishing with a total of 243 (84-80-79). She started strong on the back nine, playing even the first seven holes after a bogey and birdie to card a 2-over on her first nine holes. She struggled a bit on the front, finishing at 5-over after five bogeys to account for her 7-over par round.
Dacie Bolton posted a 245 (84-80-81) to finish in 11th place. She had a strong showing on the back nine, posting a 1-over mark with birdies on 10, 12 and 15. But Bolton was unable to sustain that consistent play on her final nine holes as she went 8-over on the front with a pair of double bogeys to end her round at 81.
Kenna Richardson finished one stroke behind Bolton in a tie for 12th place with a three-day 246 (81-82-83). She struggled on the back nine where she carded a trio of double bogeys to sit at 7-over on the first nine holes. Richardson countered on the front with five pars and four bogeys, bringing her total pars to 10 for the day.
Cockrill finished in 18th place at 249 (84-79-86). She posted 9-over on the back nine to start her round after a trio of double bogeys plagued her round, but she was able to limit the damage on the front, carding just five bogeys to finish at 5-over for the front.
Rodenhurst completed the team with a 251 (86-84-81) in a tie for 21st place. She had an up-and-down round, totaling seven pars, six bogeys, two double bogeys and two birdies, one birdie on the par-4 12th and one on the par-4 ninth.
Megan Kriz, who competed as an individual at the event, shot a 267 (90-88-89) over the three days. She posted a 12-over on the back, but cleaned up her play on the front with a 5-over mark.
As a team, the Blue Raiders totaled 123 pars over the three-day event, tied for the second-most of the seven teams.
Cumberlands (Ky.) took home the team championship with a three-day 942. Campbellsville (Ky.) finished second at 954, followed by Cumberland at 977. Cumberlands' Kaitlyn Riley took home medalist honors at the MSC Championships after finishing 12-over par at the tournament.
The victory by Cumberlands secures the Patriots an automatic bid into the NAIA National Championship Tournament later in May in Palm Beach, Florida.
