Men's Basketball Picks Up First Win; Defeat Williams Baptist 78-68

PULASKI, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team picked up their first win of the season on a 78-68 victory over Williams Baptist (Ark.) during their final game of the RedHawk Classic on Saturday afternoon.

Lindsey Wilson shot 47.1 percent from the floor compared to Williams Baptist 46.9 percentage. The ultimate difference in the game was the Blue Raiders producing 70 total shots compared to the Eagles 49 after LWC forced WBU into 16 turnovers.

Elijah Jordan paced all scorers in the game with 25 points, adding three assists and three steals. Payton Cundiff finished with 13 points as Ryan Friday had 11 and Travez Nyx added 10. Colen Gaynor added seven points and a game-high nine rebounds.

The Blue Raiders trailed most of the first half of the contest but never more than five points. Lindsey Wilson ultimately went into the locker room trailing by just one point at 38-37.

The second half was all LWC as they managed to take the lead for good off an Elijah Jordan layup at 16:07. The Blue Raiders exploded on a 29-12 run to the 4:09 mark of the half to take their largest lead of the game -- 18 points -- at 74-56.

Williams Baptist trimmed the Blue Raiders lead to just ten points over the waning minutes but ultimately fell short of the comeback bid.

The Eagles were led in scoring by Cortez King with 19 as two others finished the contest in double-figures.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Nov. 19 when they open Mid-South Conference play on the road against Freed-Hardeman. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT.
