COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. – The No. 9-seed Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team (11-4-2, 8-1-2 MSC) lost to No. 8-seed Cumberlands (Ky.) (14-5-2, 8-2-1 MSC) Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament.

David Ibrahimkadic led the Blue Raiders on the afternoon with four shots, one shot on goal and a goal in the match. David Coffey made three saves for the team tonight with the Blue Raiders outshooting the Patriots 11-9 but only got four shots on goal to Cumberland's six.

The Blue Raiders began the game with the right energy, as they got downfield and registered a couple of shots on goal in the opening 10 minutes. It was Cumberlands however that stole the momentum from the Blue Raiders moments later, as they struck twice in the span of a minute to take a two goal lead. Rodrigo Riveros scored the first of the day for the Patriots in the 14th minute with Hrannar Magnusson making it 2-0 seconds later. As the Blue Raiders worked to find their way back into the game, the referee was forced to pause the game with around 18 minutes left in the first half, for a lightning delay.

When the game was resumed, the Blue Raiders came out of the break motivated to get a goal back, and that is exactly what they did. Lindsey Wilson won a free kick right on the edge of the box and Ezequiel Hernandez stepped up to slot it home past Ingmar Struck for his fourth goal of the season. Hernandez's free kick effort gave Lindsey Wilson life as they headed into the halftime break down only a goal at 2-1.

As the second half began, Lindsey Wilson and Cumberlands traded chances but nothing happened that was too dangerous for either goalkeeper to handle. It was not until the 60th minute when Ibrahimkadic picked up the ball on the right flank, dribbled towards the box, and unleashed a venomous strike into the top left corner, beating Struck and tying the match at 2-2.

As both teams pushed to find the winning goal, the heavens opened once again, soaking the field with more wet conditions. The Patriots found their winner moments later in the 80th minute when Magnusson received a pass right on the edge of the area and put it past an onrushing goalkeeper in David Coffey. The Blue Raiders pushed to find another equalizer in the final 10 minutes, but it was not there for them.

With that result, the Blue Raiders complete their 2020 season going 11-4-2 overall and 8-1-2 in conference play.
