COLUMBIA, Ky. – On a day that saw the renaming of the football complex to 'Parnell Family Stadium', the No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team (2-0, 0-0 MSC Bluegrass Division) defeated No. 4-ranked Keiser (Fla.) (1-1, 0-0 MSC Sun Division) 34-2 in a rematch of last season's NAIA Football Championship Series semifinal.

Cameron Dukes went 11 of 18 on the day throwing for 190 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Joshua Lewis twice for 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jaylen Boyd returned to the Blue Raider offense today rushing for 89 yards on 19 carries. As a team, the Blue Raiders collected 420 yards of total offense, running the ball for 156 yards and 264 total yards through the air.

Defensively for the Blue Raiders, the team made 55 tackles with Robert Carter leading the team with eight in the game. Carter also made three interceptions on the day, recording a new single-game program record for the Blue Raiders.

For the Seahawks, Shea Spencer went 10 of 20 on the afternoon throwing for 47 yards and one interception. Marques Burgess ran the ball for 82 yards on 15 carries while Michael Robinson made five receptions for 37 yards. As a team, Keiser put together 226 yards of total offense picking up much of that yardage on the ground with 131 rushing yards and only 95 passing yards.

Defensively for the Seahawks, the team made 73 tackles with Byron Fraley and Wesley Scott in the double digits, 12 and 10 tackles respectfully. Six seahawk defenders recorded a sack or half-sack while Wendol Philord made one interception in the game.

The Blue Raiders opened the scoring after a few minutes in spectacular fashion. With the offense facing their first fourth down of the game, Ian Sauter punts the ball downfield to the Keiser 15-yard line. Punt receiver Sage Chen-Young looked to have collected the ball out of the air only to find it had slipped through his arms and was rolling back into the endzone. Darius Hylick managed to read the play well enough to fall on the ball in the endzone and open the scoring. Only moments later, Keiser got their revenge on Sauter, blocking the extra point attempt leaving the score at 6-0 to Lindsey Wilson.

It didn't take long for the Blue Raiders to score again as on the next drive Dukes evaded some serious defensive pressure from Keiser to find Lewis in the back of the endzone for a 13-0 lead.

Dukes kept the momentum going in the second quarter once again connecting with Lewis on third down. The redshirt junior wide receiver was wide open on the Lindsey Wilson sideline and made the short run and dive into the endzone to make it a 20-0 ballgame.

Keiser scored their only points of the match moments later in the quarter as Carlos Silencieux managed to block Sauter's punt and record a safety for the defense making it a 20-2 game at the half.

The third quarter was a battle of the two defenses as both sides made a change at quarterback, Will McDonald checking in for the Blue Raiders and Jack Strouse coming in for the Seahawks. Neither team were allowed to put together a good offensive run of plays meaning the Blue Raiders didn't score in a quarter of play for the first time since the first quarter against Bethel (Kan.) in the First Round of the NAIA Football Championship Series last season.

While the lack of offense is a rarity for the Blue Raiders, they were not going to go scoreless in the remainder of the game as McDonald was able to find Jaleel Warren with a six-yard pass on the Blue Raiders first drive of the quarter giving the senior his first touchdown of the season and securing the eventual 34-2 win.

The Blue Raiders continue their season with their first away trip of the year on September 25th versus St. Andrews (N.C.). Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. CT.
