Lawson Wins Weight Class; Blue Raiders compete at Life Open

MARIETTA, Ga. –Trevor Lawson, who was wrestling unattached took home the title of the 197-pound weight class as the Blue Raiders wrestling team competed at the Life Open on Saturday.

Lawson produced a perfect 3-0 record at the event. He opened his day with a pin over Hayden Malson of Keiser in just 2:04 before making quick work of Levid Rodriguez of Campbellsville in just 22 seconds in the semifinals.

He then downed Daniel Miranda of Life on another pin victory, this one coming 45 seconds into the second period. The three pins propelled him to first place.

Matthew Hendricks rolled to a third-place finish in the 165-pound weight class with a 5-1 record. He opened his day with three straight pins over Jett Merlo of Avila, Mickael Byers of Florida, and Michael Goldfeder of North Carolina.

He fell in the semifinals on a major decision before bouncing back with two wins. In the consolation semifinals, he won a sudden victory 8-6 decision over Will Garrett before a medical forfeit gave him third place.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the mat on Dec. 3 when they compete at the Campbellsville Open in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
