Baseball Extends Win Streak to Three Games with 17-0 win over Union

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson baseball stayed red hot at the plate rolling to a 17-0 dismantling of Union (Ky.) on Wednesday afternoon at Egnew Park. The game was scheduled for nine innings but finished after the top of the seventh due to a run rule.

Brandon Watts shut down the Bulldog offense from the mound, picking up his first wins after pitching six innings. Watts allowed just three hits and retired four across 20 Union batters. Michael Frye closed out the game pitching the final inning.

Henry Paulino went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and a walk. Lucas Bault managed one hit and a game-high four RBIs. Lindsey Wilson finished the contest with 11 hits spread across eight batters as Paulino, Bault, and Gunner Bush each managed home runs. Bush's home run was the first of his career.

Michael Sizemore opened play with a walk as Gabe Board then singled to right to put runners on the corners. A balk advanced both Board and Sizemore a base, scoring Sizemore for the game's first run. Bault then cleared the bases with a three-run blast over the left-center field fence.

Lindsey Wilson tacked on two more runs in the second. Jonathan Gallagher scored on a fielder's choice while a Chance Stayton single later drove in Sizemore. Gallagher helped score the Blue Raiders only run in the third inning when he reached base via an error. Paulino advanced from first base to home on the wild throw by the third baseman to score.

Gabe Board reached base on an error to open the fourth and then advanced to second with a wild pitch. Martinez produced an RBI double to increase the LWC lead to 8-0. Stayton then walked before two wild pitches scored Martinez and pushed Stayton to third. Bault drove in the final run of the inning after an RBI groundout to the shortstop.

Lindsey Wilson exploded for six runs in the sixth inning thanks to six hits and a solo home run by Paulino and a three-run blast by Bush. The Blue Raiders tacked on another run in the sixth to easily pick up their third straight win.

Baseball returns to Egnew Park on Friday for their first of a three-game series with Miami Hamilton at Noon CT.
