Baseball Run Rules Brescia in Eight Innings During Home Opener

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team rolled in their home opener on Wednesday afternoon downing Brescia (Ky.) 17-7 at Egnew Park.

The Blue Raider bats came to life as the club produced a season-high 21 hits across eight innings of action. Brescia produced 12 hits in their losing effort.

Lindsey Wilson opened the game scoring five runs across the first two innings to a 5-1 lead. Brandon Watts got the start on the bump for LWC, going four and 1/3rd innings. He struck out a team-high four batters across the 19 batters he faced.

Brescia battled back, pushing home three runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to take their first and only lead of the game at 6-5. Jaylen Reilly came on in relief for LWC striking out three while allowing just one run. He recorded the won for LWC to move his record to 1-0 on the season.

The Blue Raiders then scored five runs in the sixth off two home runs before adding three in the seventh and four in the eight to claim the win after just eight innings in the scheduled nine-inning contest.

Gabe Board went 4-for-5 with four RBIs, three singles, a double, and a home run. Henry Paulino went 3-for-5 with two singles and a home run. Thorne Gray was 3-for-5 with two RBIs off of two singles and a double.

Michael Sizemore was 2-for-5 with two RBIs as he hit a triple and a single. Koby Wall added a two-run home run in the game. Lindsey Wilson produced three home runs during the contest resulting in eight of the LWC runs.

Lindsey Wilson continues the homestand when they welcome No. 18-Ranked Indiana Wesleyan to Egnew Park for a four-game series. The matchup features two doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday with the action beginning on Friday at noon CT.
