Box Score GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson baseball suffered their second straight defeat Thursday afternoon after falling to the conference leaders 5-7 in the nine-inning series opener. A five-run inning from the Tigers sealed the game for the hosts despite their five errors in the game.
Nico Martinez led the team with two runs in the game today while four Blue Raiders (17-9, 6-4 MSC) had two hits on the afternoon. Lucas Bault, who's been efficient at the plate all season, led his side in RBIs with two.
Cohen Achen got the start from the bump today, but it was a rough one for the sophomore from Canada as he worked through seven innings throwing only two strikeouts through 29 at-bats while giving up eight hits and seven runs. Kyle Collin closed out the game for the Blue Raiders and recorded one strikeout in the loss.
Lindsey Wilson opened the scoring in the second inning after an RBI single from Thorne Gray scored Lucas Bault from third. Bault returned the favor in the third inning with an RBI single himself to make it 2-0.
The Tigers got one back in the fourth inning from an RBI single before opening the flood gates in the fifth as the hosts scored five in the fifth to make it a 6-2 ball game.
The Blue Raiders were shutout until a rally in the seventh as an RBI double from Martinez got things started. A ground out from Bault allowed Gabe Board to score on the following play before Martinez got across home on an error, cutting the lead to 5-6.
Georgetown got the final run on the afternoon with a home run in the bottom of the seventh that sealed it at 5-7.
Lindsey Wilson will conclude the series on Sunday in doubleheader action beginning at 11 a.m. CT.
