Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team lost their series against Georgetown (Ky.) in Mid-South Conference road action today after dropping both games in the doubleheader this afternoon. The Blue Raiders fall to 17-11 overall and to 6-6 in Mid-South Conference play.
Game 1: LWC 3, GC 7
Lindsey Wilson were left frustrated in the first game of the doubleheader, falling 3-7 to Georgetown. The Blue Raiders found their rhythm at the plate early, pushing home three runs in the first inning. Michael Sizemore opened the scoring after making it home from a wild pitch before RBI singles from Koby Wall and Lucas Bault scored the runs of Gabe Board and Wall.
That was all the offense the Blue Raiders managed to produce however as the hosts answered with seven straight runs to win 7-3.
The Blue Raiders managed just nine hits as Bault, Jordan Blick, and Chance Stayton each had two. The Blue Raiders struggled at the mound as they worked through three pitchers. Edwin Quedeza worked through 2 1/3 innings producing only two strikeouts while giving up two hits, five runs, and four walks. Kyle Collin and Michael Frye both came on in relief on the afternoon as Collin worked through three innings giving up five hits and two runs before Frye concluded the game playing 1/3 of an inning.
Game 2: LWC 4, GC 5
Georgetown carried their scoring run into the second inning of game three as they opened the final match of the series with an RBI single to make it 1-0 into the third.
After a scoreless third inning, the Tigers made things go from bad to worse for the Blue Raiders after they scored on an RBI single and a wild pitch to make it 3-0.
Joshua Duarte homered in the sixth inning to make it 4-0 before the Blue Raiders finally got on the board after Jonathan Gallagher's pop up allowed Stayton to come home and cut the lead to three.
With the momentum now on their side, the Blue Raiders tied the game in the eighth after a two-RBI single from Nico Martinez and an RBI triple from Stayton made it 4-4 with an inning left to play. Despite the comeback effort, the hosts reminded the Blue Raiders of their offense as the Tigers won game three on an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.
The Blue Raiders managed seven hits as Stayton led the way with two. The Blue Raiders once again worked through three pitchers on the mound in game three. Josh Barnett worked through 3 1/3 innings producing only one strikeout while giving up four hits, two runs, and three walks. Cade Duncan and Pedro Ramirez both came on in relief on the afternoon as Duncan worked through 1 1/3 innings producing only one strikeout while giving up three hits, three walks, two runs, and a home run before Ramirez concluded the game playing three innings.
Ramirez injected some life back into the Blue Raiders late as he produced four strikeouts while only giving up four hits, two walks, and one run.
The Blue Raiders return to the field on Tuesday when they host Bryan (Tenn.) at Egnew Park with first pitch slated for 5 p.m. CT.
