Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team trailed for just half an inning as they rolled past Bryan (Tenn.) 11-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Egnew Park.
Lindsey Wilson allowed only one run in the game as Bailey Turner pitched six innings to earn his first win of the season. He racked up five strikeouts and gave up just six hits. Jalen Riley pitched the final inning and added one strikeout of his own and allowed no hits.
Michael Sizemore and Chance Stayton each finished the game with three hits as Stayton produced a game-high three RBIs and Sizemore added two. Nine Blue Raiders managed hits in the game as LWC racked up 15 across seven innings and nine RBIs.
Despite Bryan opening the contest with one run on a solo home run in the first inning, Lindsey Wilson quickly regained the lead and never looked back. The Blue raiders pushed home six runs on four hits and two Lion errors to take the lead for good. Gabe Board, Henry Paulino, Stayton, and Sizemore all picked up hits in the inning. Sizemore managed two RBIs in the inning as Koby Wall, Stayton, and Paulino each pushed home one run.
Lindsey Wilson tacked on one more run in the second inning on a solo effort by Nico Martinez. After leading off the inning with a single, Martinez stole second and later third base before scoring on an error by the Bryan pitcher on a pickoff attempt.
After three scoreless innings, Lindsey Wilson pushed two runs home in the sixth and seventh innings to win the schedule nine-inning contest in just seven innings via run rule.
Martines led off the sixth with a solo home run before a Paulino sacrifice fly scored Stayton who reached on a fielder's choice.
In the seventh inning, Jordan Blick singled before back-to-back out by Bryan threatened more innings. Martinez would walk to put runners on first and second before Wall singles to load the bases. Stayton closed out the contest with a two-RBI single pushing home the winning runs in Thorne Gray and Martinez.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the field on Wednesday when they take on Union (Ky.) on the road. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
