Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – Coming off a big win against a ranked opponent last night, the Lindsey Wilson baseball team looked to keep the momentum moving as they squared off with rival Campbellsville (Ky.) in a midweek matchup.
The Blue Raider bats picked up where they left off yesterday as the club produced two runs off three hits in the opening two innings to take a 2-0 lead. Despite the strong start, the team went on finish the game with only five hits while the Tigers produced six.
Pedro Ramirez got the start on the bump for LWC, going 2 1/3 innings earning three strikeouts while only allowing one hit and three runs. Brandon Watts and Jake McDaniel both came on in relief in the loss.
After the comfortable opening from the Blue Raiders, the Tigers tied the game in the third after a two-RBI single brought the hosts level. The Tigers took a 3-2 lead on the following at-bat after Cameron Castaneda was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The Tigers capitalized on more pitching errors in the fifth adding two more runs before an RBI single in the seventh and an RBI double in the eighth put the game away at 7-2 for Campbellsville.
Koby Wall and Austin Rayno were the only two batters to notch an RBI for the Blue Raiders today as Wall led the team with two hits. In total, only four different Blue Raiders had a hit in today's game.
Lindsey Wilson concludes their regular season this weekend when they travel to take on No. 20-ranked Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) in a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT on Friday with the doubleheader starting at noon CT on Saturday.
