LEBANON, Tenn. - Isaiah Reinert wrestled his way to first place in the 197-pound weight class as Lindsey Wilson competed at the Cumberland Open on Saturday.
Reinert picked up a tech fall, decision, and major decision on his way to the title, winning the championship match on a sudden victory over Riley Kauzlaric. Reinert defeated Kadin Stutzman of Cumberland (Tenn.) on a 18-0 tech fall, Daniel Miranda of Life (Ga.) on a 6-0 decision, and Nolan Cook of Truett-McConnell (Ga.) on an 11-3 major decision.
Garrett Koestel advanced to the consolation fifth round in the 141-pound weight class, picking up three wins on two decisions and a medical forfeit. Koestel defeated Scott Nappi of Tennessee on a 9-3 decision, Matthew Johnson of Truett-McConnell (Ga.) on a 7-0 decision, and Bradley Williams of Stronghold Wrestling Club on a medical forfeit.
Dylan Washburn advanced to the consolation third round in the 165-pound weight class, picking up two wins on a pin and a decision. Washburn defeated Dalton Towe of Montreat College (N.C.) on a pin at 1:36 and Dylan Roe of Cumberlands (Ky.) on a 7-3 decision.
Tony Ornelas picked up one win on the day in the 285-pound weight class, defeating Antwon Singleton of Central Baptist (Ark.) by forfeit.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the mat on Feb. 17 when they compete in the Mid-South Conference Championships in Bowling Green, Ky.
