Box Score PIKEVILLE, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped the series finale to Pikeville 13-3 in eight innings Sunday at Johnnie Lemaster Field.
Matthew Schultz went 2-for-4 for Lindsey Wilson (13-10, 5-6 MSC) in the game while Jordan Blick drove in a pair of runs. Andres Duran had one hit with an RBI.
The Blue Raiders struck first in the first inning. After back-to-back outs to begin the inning, Lindsey Wilson drew a pair of walks. Duran then singled into right field to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead. Pikeville (10-15, 4-8 MSC) tied the game in the bottom of the third. Tyler Freas reached on a leadoff single. Samuel Torres then laid down a sacrifice bunt and miscommunication by the Blue Raiders defense allowed Freas to score to make it 1-1.
Pikeville took the lead in the fourth inning. The Bears led off the inning with a single and then a Lindsey Wilson error put runners on first and second with no outs. A groundout moved the runners to second and third before a second Blue Raider error in the inning allowed Pikeville to take a 2-1 lead. Blick gave Lindsey Wilson a 3-2 lead in the fifth with a two-RBI single to centerfield.
The Bears took control of the game in the sixth inning. Pikeville scored nine runs in the inning on seven hits. The Bears would then score two runs in the eighth to put the run rule in effect.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Johnson (Tenn.) for a doubleheader.
