Box Score HUNTINGBURG, Ind. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped a close contest at Oakland City University (Ind.) on Tuesday.
An RBI-single in the bottom of the ninth inning broke a tie ball game and gave the Mighty Oaks a walk-off 8-7 victory in the midweek contest.
Andres Duran earned a career-high three hits, going 3-for-5 on the day. Austin Rayno also had a multi-hit day, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
The Blue Raiders got on the board early as Chance Stayton hit a single up the middle to score Duran in the first inning. The Mighty Oaks responded with a run of their own in the first and five more runs in the next two innings to take a 6-1 lead.
The fourth inning proved to be huge as the Blue Raiders scored four runs to cut the deficit to one. Rayno hit an RBI-triple, Cody Fallon hit a two-run double, and Matthew Schultz hit an RBI-single.
The Blue Raiders followed that up with a Henry Paulino two-run home run in the fifth inning to take a 7-6 lead.
After Edwin Quedeza held the Mighty Oaks scoreless for three consecutive innings, Oakland City scored one run in the seventh inning to tie the game at seven.
Quedeza was solid on the mound, allowing only two runs and recording six strikeouts in five innings pitched. Cade Duncan earned three strikeouts in one inning pitched.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action next weekend for a three-game series with No. 22 Cumberland (Tenn.). This will be the final home series of the season and senior members of the team will be recognized.
