Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped its series opener at Freed-Hardeman University 19-4 in seven innings at Five Wells Field on Friday.
The Lions scored 12 runs in the first inning and continued to add runs throughout the contest leading to the run-rule victory.
The Blue Raiders scored all four of its runs in the seventh inning. Jordan Blick blasted a solo home run over the right field wall to score the first run of the game for the Blue Raiders. Blick is now the only Blue Raider with double-digit home runs on the season.
The Blue Raiders loaded the bases with no outs after the home run and looked to continue the seventh inning rally. Lucas Bault scored on an error, Sam Gage hit a sac-fly to score Austin Rayno, and Henry Paulino hit an RBI-single to score Jaden Cockerel.
Nick Backstrom was solid on the mound in relief, holding the Lions scoreless in 3.1 innings of work. Backstrom allowed no hits, one walk, and recorded six strikeouts.
These two squads will face off in a doubleheader on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT to close out the series.
