Box Score MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped its series opener with Bethel in a low-scoring affair that went to extra innings. Both teams were held scoreless through ten innings as strong pitching and defense dominated.
An RBI-double for the Wildcats in the bottom of the eleventh inning was the only run of the game and proved to be the difference.
Cohen Achen got the start on the mound and allowed no runs on four hits, one walk, and recorded seven strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched. Glenn Simes allowed one run on two hits, two walks and recorded four strikeouts in three innings of work.
The only two hits of the game for the Blue Raiders came in the fourth inning, as Lucas Bault and Henry Paulino earned singles.
The Blue Raiders found themselves with another chance in the sixth inning with Bault and Sam Gage earning back-to-back walks. A fly out and a strikeout ended the inning.
Jordan Blick and Austin Rayno were the only other Blue Raiders that were able to reach base for the rest of the game.
These two squads will face off in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m. CT to decide the series.
