Box Score 2 MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped a pair of games against Bethel (Tenn.) on Saturday to close the conference series with the Wildcats.
The Blue Raiders fell behind in both contests and could never recover, falling 9-3 in game one and 4-3 in game two.
Game One | Lindsey Wilson 3, Bethel 9
A strong start propelled Bethel over Lindsey Wilson in game one as the Wildcats quickly scored five runs in the first inning.
The Blue Raiders finally responded in the fourth inning with three runs. Jaden Cockerel reached on an error which scored Thorne Gray and Henry Paulino. Austin Rayno followed that up with an RBI-single to score Michael Sizemore.
The Wildcats quickly responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning, to extend the lead back to five runs, 8-3.
Bethel scored one more run in the fifth and held the Blue Raiders scoreless throughout the rest of the contest.
Jalen Riley was solid in his first appearance of the season, retiring seven of the nine batters he faced in the game. Riley allowed no hits, no runs, and no walks in 2.2 innings pitched.
Game Two | Lindsey Wilson 3, Bethel 4
The Blue Raiders saw a late, comeback effort fall just short in the second game.
Bethel scored first once again, plating a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings to make the score 4-0.
The Blue Raiders finally found life in the eighth inning, scoring two runs to cut the deficit in half. Sam Gage reached on an error which scored Trent Floden and Gabe Board.
After holding the Wildcats scoreless in the bottom half of the eighth inning, the Blue Raiders looked to rally in the ninth.
Jordan Blick blasted a solo home run over the right field wall with one out and just like that the 4-0 lead was down to 4-3. Board reached once again on a walk, but the Blue Raiders were unable to complete the comeback effort.
Mason Malone totaled seven strikeouts through six innings and Andy Rosales was solid in two innings of relief, allowing no runs on one hit.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action next weekend for a three-game conference series with No. 22 Cumberland (Tenn.). This will be the final home series of the season and senior members of the team will be recognized.
