Blue Raiders Stay Hot as Men's Basketball Downs Kent State-Tuscarawas

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – A career-day on the glass from Jackson Edwards and lights-out 3-point shooting from the likes of Johrdon Mumford and Julian Cunningham helped (RV) Lindsey Wilson cruise to a 99-65 victory over Kent State-Tuscarawas (Ohio) on Sunday afternoon inside the Connor Convocation Center.

The Blue Raiders hit a season-high 13 3-pointers and connected on a season-best 82.4 percent from the charity stripe. Cunningham led all scorers with 19 points on a 6-of-12 showing from the field to go with three rebounds and three assists. Mumford knocked down 5-of-7 from 3-point range and finished with 14 points. Connor Robinson, Daivel Jackson, and Olson Nicholson each reached double-figures with 14, 12, and 12 points, respectively.

On the boards, Edwards corralled a career-high 10 rebounds, including four of Lindsey Wilson's 11 offensive, which ultimately created 14 second-chance points.

As a team, the Blue Raiders went 50 percent or better from the floor for the eighth consecutive game, finishing 36-for-65 – 55.4 percent.

A 10-0 start for Lindsey Wilson set the pace for the day. After the Golden Eagles got on the scoresheet with a layup, the Blue Raiders followed with a 9-0 run to increase their lead to 19-2. At 9:53 of the first half, a steal and score by Barrett Burchyett pushed the advantage to 32-11 and Lindsey Wilson kept the distance between Kent State-Tuscarawas in the 20's throughout a majority of the next nine minutes. Even still, the Golden Eagles managed to cut the deficit to 48-30 going into the locker room.

The Blue Raiders shot 7-of-10 on 3-point field goals in the second half, hitting two out of the break from Matt Khoury and Cunningham. A significant 14-0 Lindsey Wilson run over a four-minute span put the Golden Eagles well in the rearview mirror, and a nine-point spurt later on iced the deal. Mumford played just nine minutes of the second half but contributed four of his five 3-pointers and chipped in a steal and a block.

Lindsey Wilson takes four days of rest before traveling to Rio Grande, Ohio next Friday and Saturday for the Bevo Francis Classic.
