COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team downed Kentucky Christian 95-76 on the last day of the Brady Button Memorial on Saturday afternoon. This win improves the Blue Raiders to 4-0 as they cap off an early-season homestand and look to build on their early success.
Lindsey Wilson shot the ball well and finished the game 56.7 percent from the field. This marks back-to-back games shooting over 55 percent.
Julian Cunnigham and
Kenyata Carbon led the team with 20 points apiece, while three other Blue Raiders managed to reach double digit figures, including
Johrdon Mumford with 13 points, and
Olson Nicholson and Conner Robinson with 11 points, each.
Daivel Jackson put the icing on the cake as he went 4-for-4 from the field, adding nine points and grabbing nine rebounds.
The Blue Raiders and the Knights were at each other's throats throughout the first half but Lindsey Wilson's poise made sure that the visitors never took the lead. Following a Kentucky Christian bucket at 5:17 to cut the score to 31-30, the Blue Raider pieced together a 9-0 run to open up a more manageable lead. Lindsey Wilson also took advantage of its athletic ability and size to get to the free throw, attempting 30 free throws in all and muscling 36 points in the paint.
The Blue Raiders ballooned their lead in the second half, gaining momentum out of the locker room and keeping their foot on the gas. Lindsey Wilson forced eight second half turnovers to help their cause and received significant contributions from Carbon and Cunningham, who tallied 11 and 15 points, respectively, over the final 20 minutes.
The Blue Raiders will be back in action at 2 p.m CST on Friday as they take on Brewton-Parker (Ga.) in the Campbellsville University Classic.
