Softball Splits with No. 10 Georgia Gwinnett; Takes Series 2-1

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson softball team concluded its regular season on Saturday with a doubleheader split and series win over No. 10 Georgia Gwinnett.

Brooklynn Becker produced a team-best three hits on the day and scored two of her team's three runs.

Game One: Lindsey Wilson 3, No. 10 Georgia Gwinnett 1

Kayden Murray dealt another complete-game gem and allowed a lone earned run to help the Blue Raiders clinch the series in game one.

The freshman retired six on strikes and issued just one walk to claim her second win of the weekend and 15th of the season.

Offensively, the hosts plated one run in each of the first three innings, starting with an RBI-ground out by Brylee Pickerell to score Becker in the first frame.

Kelsie Bostock doubled the Blue Raiders' lead in the second inning, ripping a hard-hit ball to the Grizzlies' third baseman to bring home Natalie Wandrie.

After Georgia Gwinnett got one on the board in the top half of the third frame, Pickerell answered back in the bottom leg on a sacrifice fly out to push home Becker, again.

From there, Murray and the defense locked in for three consecutive perfect innings before holding off the visitors for good in the seventh.

Game Two: Lindsey Wilson 0, No. 10 Georgia Gwinnett 9 (5 Innings)

A seven-run, six-hit second inning by the Grizzlies disrupted an otherwise solid effort from Savannah Robbins in the circle.

Georgia Gwinnett scored seven of their nine runs with two outs, despite being held without a hit in the first, third, and fifth innings.

Unfortunately, the road team's timely hitting mixed with their own strong pitching kept Lindsey Wilson in check and off the board.

Robbins finished with four earned runs surrendered on nine hits.

Lindsey Wilson turns its attention to the Mid-South Conference tournament, which is set to begin on Wednesday, May 1 in Bowling Green. The conference office is slated to release the official tournament bracket later this weekend.
