Men’s Track & Field Finishes Runner-Up at Bearcat Invitational

OWENSBORO, Ky. -The Lindsey Wilson men's track and field team posted a runner-up finish at the Bearcat Invitational Saturday at Brescia.

The Blue Raiders totaled 168 points in the five-team field and won four events on the day.

Jace Cowman took first in the 5,000-meter race walk. Cowman finished with a time of 26:20.45 to earn an NAIA B standard.

Justin Stearns picked up a pair of victories winning the 800 with a time of 1:57.24 and the 1500 finishing in 4:01.92. Justin Borden earned the final victory for the Blue Raiders in the high jump with a distance of 1.95 meters.

Four Blue Raiders scored points in the 200. Deanglo Patterson finished fourth with a time of 22.55, K'ron Sherald was seventh finishing in 23.13, Kelvion Wilson finished eighth in 23.27 and Royce Mentor was ninth with a time of 23.29.

Sherald finished runner-up in the 400 with a time of 50.20, Mentor finished third in 51.29 and Dontae Rucker was sixth finishing in 59.95.

Marti Molins finished runner-up in the 800 with a time of 1:59.74, Blake Mullins was eighth finishing in 2:13.27, Kevin Cuin placed ninth finishing in 2:13.44 and Zack McCaslin was 10th with a time of 2:15.73.

Daniel Aikas placed third in the 1500 finishing in 4:15.68, Marcus Abel was fourth with a time of 4:31.71 and Kevin Cuin finished fifth in 4:36.05.  David Requejo placed seventh in the 100 (11.15) and was ninth in the 400 hurdles (1:07.02).

The quartet of Stearns, Molins, Aikas and Marcus Abel finished runner-up in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:33.89.

Rucker placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.67 meters. Andrew Cronk finished third in the shot put with a throw of 12.23 meters and in the discus with a throw of 36.60 meters. Zach Segur placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 11.35 meters and fifth in the discus with a throw of 34.70 meters.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on April 12 when they travel to Danville, Kentucky for the Centre Twilight.
