MOBILE, Ala. - The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team concluded its season after falling 4-0 to No. 2-seeded Keiser (Fla.) in the semifinals of the NAIA National Championships on Friday evening.
The Seahawks tallied the first point by winning the first two completed doubles matches on courts two and one in that order.
In singles play, Anastasiia Vorobiova, Mariangeles Mateu, Reshma Challarapu, Anastasiia Ivanchenko, and Heyka Rodriguez were all a set down on courts one, two, three, five, and six respectively. Darija Mladenovic was the only Blue Raider able to win the first set in singles No. 4. Only a few minutes after she obtained the first set, the matchup was stopped due to a lightning delay. Officials announced that play would resume at 6:30 p.m.
Once both teams got back into action Keiser took wins on courts one and three before the rain came back, delaying the match another hour and a half.
After that break, the Seahawks clinched the match on court two to end a long day for both teams.
The Blue Raiders end their 2024 season with a semifinalist honor and a 20-3 record.
