COLUMBIA, Ky. – Wednesday, August 28 marks the 2024 home debut of the Lindsey Wilson volleyball team as the Blue Raiders host Brescia (Ky.) in a non-conference match-up.
Lindsey Wilson opened its season this past weekend in Bellevue, Nebraska at the GoSarpy.com Classic, and while the team finished 1-3, they battled through a gauntlet of nationally-ranked competition.
Elisa Burzio and
Ola Wyrzykowska rank eighth and 10th, respectively, in the Mid-South Conference for kills per set. The latter of the two recorded eight or more kills in three of the Blue Raiders' four matches in Nebraska, including a 10-kill, 12-dig effort against Bellevue (Neb.) on Saturday.
Junior
Wiktoria Stankiewicz paces the defense with 51 total digs, while freshman
Lara Danesi, who also notched a double-double on Saturday, is up to second in the lineup with 44 digs.
As a team, Lindsey Wilson hit 0.186 and bested its opponents in total kills. The Blue Raiders also dished out 11 more assists, led
Luiza Goncalves' 125 dimes.
Brescia comes into the week in search of its first win of the season after going empty in their four matches in Ohio over the weekend.
Freshman Callie Mason leads the team on offense with 40 kills, followed by junior Cheaney Archer's 92 assists. On defense, first-year Kennedy Murphy holds a team-high 27 digs.
Lindsey Wilson is 19-10 all-time versus Brescia and has won 12 straight against the Bearcats since 2006.
