Efua Asabel was tabbed Mid-South Conference women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday.
Asabel, of Cape Coast, Ghana, earns her third weekly award of the season and of her career. She also represents the Blue Raiders' seventh consecutive "Player of the Week" award winner.
In Thursday's Mid-South Conference quarterfinal match versus Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), Asabel scored both of No. 18 Lindsey Wilson's goal in the Blue Raiders' 2-0 win. Her first tally came in the 23
rd minute off a long pass from
Amanda Parreiras, then in the 80
th minute, Asabel converted on a low cross by
Sharon Nadunga to put the match away.
The brace was Asabel's fourth of the season and second in as many contests.
Entering Wednesday's semifinal round, Asabel leads the conference with 12 goals, seven of which have come against Mid-South opponents.
Efua and her Blue Raider teammates host No. 10 Cumberlands (Ky.) at 6 p.m. CT on Wednesday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium in the Mid-South tournament semifinals.
