Kenyata Carbon was named the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.
The Owensboro, Kentucky, native earns his fifth career honor and third this season. The junior guard continues to be one of the Blue Raiders' most consistent scorers.
Carbon averaged 22.5 points per game while shooting an impressive 76 percent (16-of-21) from the field. He also connected on 7-of-9 attempts from beyond the arc and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. The guard added five assists per game and averaged two steals across the two contests.
He opened the week with 25 points in the Blue Raiders' 75-68 loss over Indiana Southeast, shooting 9-of-15 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range. Carbon also went 4-for-4 from the line, added four rebounds, four assists, and grabbed three steals.
He followed that performance with 20 points on a near-perfect 7-of-8 shooting in a 91-74 win over Union (Ky.). Carbon knocked down all four of his three-point attempts and both free throws while dishing out six assists and grabbing four rebounds.
Carbon and the Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday, January 3, when they host Washington Adventist (Md.) inside Biggers Sports Center at 6:30 p.m. CT.
