Track and Field Competes on Day One of NAIA Indoor Championships; Two Blue Raiders Earn All-American Honors

GAINESVILLE, Florida.- The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's track and field teams competed on the first day of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center at Celebration Pointe

After the first day, the Blue Raider men sit in fourth with nine points while the women did not score any points on day one.

Tremaine Browne and Lorenzo Luces earned All-American honors on the first day in the triple jump. Browne finished third with a jump of 15.21 meters to score six points for the Blue Raiders. Browne's third-place jump came on his third attempt. Luces posted a sixth-place finish with picking up three points with a jump of 14.93 meters.

In the Distance Medley Relay prelims, Marti Molins, David Requejo, Logan Bullock, and Justin Stearns finished seventh with a school-record-breaking time of nine minutes and:57.96 seconds, surpassing the previous record set back at the Mid-South Conference Championship. This performance earned them a spot in the finals on Saturday.

Daniel Otibo, Enric Fernandez, Royce Mentor and Miah Chatmond finished 17th in the 4x400-meter relay with a school-record time of 3:16.88 seconds.

On the women's side, Eliza Hagens qualified for Friday's final of the 3,000-meter race walk.Hagens finished eighth in the prelims with a time of 16:24.96. Hannah Reid, Kayly Guthrie, Ta'shya Cramer, and Anna Grasse set a new school record in the 4x400 relay, clocking in at 3:50.93, surpassing their previous record from January. The quartet finished fifth overall and won their heat to advance to the finals.

The Blue Raiders will be back in action Friday for day two of the NAIA Championships.
