COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson softball team is off from Mid-South play this week but continues its homestand on Thursday with Midway (Ky.).
The Eagles represent the fourth different opponent for the Blue Raiders out of the River States Conference and enter the weekday match-up on the heels of a two-game sweep of West Virginia Tech on Wednesday.
Against the Golden Bears, Midway batted 0.396 with 19 runs scored on 19 hits. Outfielder Ryann Berger paced the Eagles' offense with three runs batted-in on five hits, including a double and a home run. Sawyer Snodgrass contributed three hits to drive in two runs.
The pair of Berger and Snodgrass lead Midway for the season with 35 and 24 hits, respectively, while Berger and Kennadi Thompson sit tied atop the lineup with 20 RBIs, apiece.
In the circle, Athena Grimley and Alexia Hoskins each boast a 3-3 record, two complete game efforts, and a shutout. They are also the only two out of Midway's eight-player pitching staff to have at least 10 strikeouts.
Lindsey Wilson looks to snap a four-game losing skid after dropping its most recent series to fourth-ranked Cumberlands (Ky.) last weekend. Freshman
Nora Epley has reached base in nine consecutive games and has compiled a team-high 11 hits in the process.
In the Blue Raiders' series with the Patriots,
Sam Hartman and
Atavya Fowler both produced three hits. The duo actively leads the team with three home runs each.
As for pitching,
Hallie Roberts is 2-1 this season versus River States opponents with a 1.95 earned run average, 16 strikeouts, and two shutouts.
Lindsey Wilson and Midway met previously in 2023 at Marilyn D. Sparks Park. The Eagles won both ends of the doubleheader by one run, ending a five-game winning streak by the Blue Raiders in the all-time series.
Live coverage of Thursday's non-conference action begins at 3 p.m. CST from Sparks Park and can be viewed on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network.
