Men’s Track & Field Finishes First at Blue Raider Rumble

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's track and field team secured four first-place finishes at the Blue Raider Rumble on Friday at Parnell Family Stadium. 

The Blue Raiders tallied 181 points to finish first while Campbellsville (Ky.) was second with 162.

Having a seven-year hiatus the Blue Raiders hosted their first home track meet where they had four first-place finishes. Kai Avery led the way with a personal-record-setting victory in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 59.81 seconds. Joining him at the top was Dyse Harding, who took first place in the high jump with a leap of 1.90 meters. Tremaine Browne also had a standout performance, winning the long jump with a mark of 7.16 meters, while Lorenzo Luces made a statement in the triple jump, claiming first with a jump of 14.22 meters. 

Lindsey Wilson remained poised to make a statement where they had everybody competing at the highest level. In the 100-meter dash, Demarcus Robertson placed third with a time of 10.28 seconds, setting both an 'A' standard and a school record. TreCoreus Blanton followed closely behind, finishing fourth with a time of 10.29, also hitting an 'A' standard. Deanglo Patterson came in sixth with a time of 10.43, securing an NAIA 'B' standard. 

Daniel Otibo finished runner-up in the 200-meter with a time of 22.23. Patterson finished fourth with a time of 22.48, Robertson came in fifth finishing in 22.48 while Miah Chatmond was seventh with a time of 22.62.

In the 400-meter, Daniel Otibo finished second with a time of 48.59 seconds, while Royce Mentor placed third at 49.16 seconds. Enric Fernandez rounded out the top five with a time of 49.70, while Miah Chatmond (50.41) and Logan Bullock (51.13 ) took seventh and eighth. 

Strong finishes were also seen in the distance events, with Nick Cummins claiming second place in the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:15.21. Logan Bullock followed closely behind in third with a time of 4:17.61. Bryce Clayton (4:31.56) and Santiago Nunez (4:35.81) finished seventh and eighth, respectively. 

In the 110-meter hurdles, Elijah Palmer finished second with a time of 16.20 seconds. Avery followed in fourth place with 17.91 seconds, while Ian Rosario Alicea rounded out the top five with a time of 18.90. 

Rosario Alicea came in second behind Avery in the 400-meter with a time of 1:02.63 while Josiah Elliott had a time of 1:12.52 to finish third. 

In the long jump, Browne's teammates also showcased their talents. Summy Manirakiza placed fourth with a leap of 6.47 meters. Browne also participated in the triple jump, finishing second with a jump of 13.88 meters. Jayden Wentz and Bishop Bale took fourth and fifth with jumps of 13.52 meters and 12.32 meters. 

In the discus, Bryan Coleman secured fourth place with a throw of 36.86 meters. Leeshawn Johnson finished fifth with a distance of 34.69 meters, while Austin McCombs was eighth with a throw of  28.70 meters. In the javelin throw, David Requejo placed eighth with a throw of 30.39 meters. 

Coleman also competed in the shot put, finishing fifth with a throw of 11.64 meters. Richard Newland recorded a throw of 10.57 meters to finish seventh while Jamison Graves was eighth with a distance of 9.43 meters.

In the hammer throw Leeshawn Johnson placed third throwing 42.39 meters while Coleman came in fifth with a distance of 38.05 meters. Newland and McCombs came in sixth and eighth, respectively.

The Blue Raiders will be back in action for the Centre Invitational in Danville, Kentucky April 4th at Andy Frye Stadium
