PARK CITY, Kan. - Adrian Ayala and
Clarence Lee-Green IV closed out the Lindsey Wilson men's wrestling team's competition at the NAIA National Championships on Friday at Hartman Arena.
The Blue Raiders finish the national championship 33rd after totaling six team points.
In the 125-pound bracket, No. 16 seed Lee-Green earned a 13-3 major decision over ninth-seeded Kobi Johnson from Providence (Mont.) to advance in the consolation bracket. He led 4-0 after the first two periods and outscored Johnson 9-3 in the third period. Lee-Green matched up with No. 11 seed Brody Gee from Saint Mary with All-American honors on the line. Gee defeated Lee-Green 4-0 ending his tournament run.
No. 13 seed Ayala defeated Nick Moore from Campbellsville (Ky.) 4-1. The two were tied 0-0 after the first period. Moore started on the bottom in the second period and earned an escape 16 seconds in. Ayala recorded a takedown with 34 seconds left in the period to lead 3-1. He added an escape in the third for the 4-1 victory. In the next round, Ayala was once again matched up with a Mid-South Conference wrestler in No. 7 seed Jared Dinh from Cumberland with the winner becoming an All-American. He was defeated by Dinh in TB-1 6-5 ending his national tournament.
