4/1/2025 1:37:00 PM

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Blue Raider softball team continues its homestand and detour from Mid-South play on Wednesday afternoon when former conference-foe Shawnee State (Ohio) comes to Columbia for an afternoon doubleheader.

The Bears come in with a record of 14-10 after winning three out of four games this past weekend against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) and Indiana-Purdue Columbus (Ind.).

Infielder Sierra Dunnagan batted 0.667 with six runs batted-in on 10 hits during the four-game set. The sophomore boasts a 21-game hit-streak and has been held hitless in only one game so far this season. With a 0.518 batting average to her name, Dunnagan actively leads the River States Conference, while also ranking second in total hits, fifth in extra-base hits, and sixth in runs batted-in.

Pitching wise, Emma Wargel's seven wins are tied for third-most in the River States. The senior has fired six complete games and paces Shawnee State with 51 total strikeouts.

Lindsey Wilson last competed on March 27, earned a split with another River States opponent in Midway (Ky.). Kendall Dailey turned in a team-high three hits against the Eagles, while Sam Hartman drove in four runs on two hits, including her team-leading fourth home run of the year.

Since March 11, Hartman has produced a team-best 12 hits, followed by Brooklynn Becker, Nora Epley, and Brylee Pickerell with 11, apiece.

As former in-conference rivals, Lindsey Wilson and Shawnee State share a long history that dates back to 2011. The Blue Raiders are 37-7 all-time against the Bears, including a 20-3 record at home. Shawnee State's last trip to Sparks Park, however, went in the Bears' favor as they took two out of three in 2023.

Live coverage from Marilyn D. Sparks Park begins at 2 p.m. CST on Wednesday on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network
