COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Lindsey Wilson baseball team will host the No. 9 Patriots of the Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday and Sunday at Egnew Park. The Blue Raiders and Patriots will face off at 2 pm CST on Saturday. Sunday's doubleheader will take place at Noon and 3 pm CST.
Before Saturday's game, the 2025 Blue Raider baseball seniors Andres Duran, Spencer Garner, Gannon Herring, Mason Malone, Riley Monheimer, Matt Schultz, Glenn Simes, and Chance Stayton will be honored at 1:30.
Lindsey Wilson will enter the series coming off of a 12-9 loss to Midway (Ky.) on Wednesday. The Blue Raiders are 5-28 and 2-7 in the Mid-South Conference. Stayton is batting .432 against conference competition this season, while Diego Andino is hitting .344. Andino has connected on three home runs, while Jackson Steele has driven in eight RBIs in conference play. On the mound this season, Glenn Simes has recorded a team-high 34 strikeouts and is averaging 3.8 a game. Simes leads in team wins with three, while giving up 48 runs on 70 hits.
Cumberlands is 33-6 on the season and 9-0 in MSC play, coming in at No. 9 on the NAIA Poll. The Patriots are coming off of a 12-10 win over Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday. Charlie Muñiz leads with a .452 batting average on the season with a team high 26 home runs, breaking the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA) record for career home runs when he hit his 89th on March 27th against Warner (Fla.). Muñiz now has 105 home runs for his career and also leads the team with 68 RBIs this season. Knicko Billings has fired 53.1 innings with an ERA of 1.69. Billings has recorded 50 strikeouts, and 14 walks while facing 194 batters.
February 26, 2025 marks the last meeting between the two programs with the patriots taking a 13-12 victory. Lindsey Wilson has dropped 15 of the last 16 match-ups as the Cumberlands leads the all-time series 19-10. The Blue Raiders average 4.21 runs against the Patriots while allowing 5.93.
