COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Blue Raider baseball team heads to Mackenzie, Tennessee to face Bethel (Tenn.) in a three-game road series in a double header on Friday at 2 and 5 pm CST and a single game on Saturday at 1 pm CST at Wildcat Park in the Kahlden Complex.
Lindsey Wilson (6-32) is coming off of a 15-5 loss against Oakland City (Ind.) on Wednesday after winning a game the previous day against Brescia (Ky.) 9-7. The Blue Raiders are led by Matthew Schultz on the season, who is batting .348, with 38 hits in 112 plate appearances, tallying 20 RBIs and five home runs. Andres Duran leads the team in RBIs and home runs with 24 and 6, respectively. Glenn Simes (3-6) leads the Blue Raiders in innings pitched with 45.2, facing 209 batters. Simes leads the team in strikeouts with 35, while allowing 52 runs on 77 hits.
Bethel (16-18) just recently won their match-up against Georgetown 4-3 in the last game of their three-game series after dropping games one and two, 6-5 and 10-5. Jared Hall leads the team with a batting of .351, connecting in 46 of his 131 at-bats. Hall also holds the team highs in RBIs and home runs with 32 and eight, respectively. Zach Zimmer (4-2) leads the charge for the Wildcats on the mound, firing 48.0 innings. Zimmer has given up 27 runs on 44 hits with 31 strikeouts and 24 walks on the season, with an ERA of 4.69.
April 7, 2024 marks the last time the two programs met with Bethel taking a 2-0 victory. Lindsey Wilson trails 6-12 in the all-time series and has a record of 3-7 when playing at Bethel. The Blue Raiders average five runs when facing the Wildcats and have won one of the last 10 matchups.
The first pitch will be thrown at 2 pm CST from the mound of Wildcat Park in the Kahlden Complex, with game two starting at 5 pm CST and Saturday's game starting at 1 pm CST.
