MARION, Ind. – Lorenzo Luces captured the NAIA Men's Long National Championship on the final day of the NAIA National Championships on Friday at the Wildcat Track & Field Complex.
The Blue Raider men finished tied for seventh with 26 points, while the women finished 50th, totaling 4.50 points over the three days.
Luces bested the 23-man field with a jump of 15.49 meters defeating runner-up Lyle Lo of British Columbia by .15 meters. He becomes the program's third triple jump national champion and first since Goabaone Mosheleketi in 2018. Luces hit his championship-winning jump of 15.49 on his sixth and final attempt.
Tremaine Browne finished eighth with a distance of 14.90 meters to earn All-American status in the triple jump. He recorded the distance on his third jump to become an All-American. Browne earned his second All-American honor at the National Championships after earning the honor on Thursday in the long jump.
Rosemond Owusu earned All-American honors in the women's high jump. Owusu finished tied for fifth with a jump of 1.69 meters. She becomes the program's first-ever All-American in the high jump.
In the women's 4x400-meter relay finals, the Blue Raiders were disqualified following the event's conclusion.
